This is a standard USB to RS-232 converter using a Prolific chip. It can for instance be used to connect a Wisp648 programmer to a PC that has no (free) serial port. Software for win95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, can be downloaded from drivers.
Recent Windows versions have pre-installed drivers for this converter, but they seem to cause troble in many cases. Better install the manufacturers drivers before you plug in this converter!
