Sigurbjorn Thor Bjarnason told me: The BF450 transistor can be used as direct replacement for the AF117 series, transistors without having to change the bias. I had several receivers that use AF117 and all are "dead" because of those internal short-circuits. see Transistor Faults, Testing and Replacement.
