This is an 18-pin FLASH PIC like the PIC-16F628A-DIP, but with many extra features, like A/D and I2C, and internal clock sources for very low-power operation.
This chip is in a DIP housing. Suitable sockets are DIP-18-L-(5) (low-cost, flat pins) or DIP-18-Q-(5) or (high-quality, round pins)..
DIP-ZIF28 is a ZIF socket that could be used with this chip.

When this standard chip is temporarily not available I might provide you an LF chip (extended opertaing voltage range) or an E version (extended temperature range) instead. Such chips are fully (upwards) compatible replacements for the plain F chips.
