This is at the moment the cheapest 14-pin FLASH PIC with A/D. At a price slightly above the PIC-12F675-DIP is offers more I/O pins. PIC-16F630-DIP is the same chip, but without A/D.
This chip is in a DIP housing. Suitable sockets are DIP-14-L-(5) (low-cost, flat pins) or DIP-14-Q-(5) or (high-quality, round pins)..
DIP-ZIF28 is a ZIF socket that could be used with this chip.

When this standard chip is temporarily not available I might provide you an LF chip (extended opertaing voltage range) or an E version (extended temperature range) instead. Such chips are fully (upwards) compatible replacements for the plain F chips.
