The new 10F series of PICs small and are very cheap. These are 6-pin PICs, the DIP-8 version has two unused pins.
This chip can run on its internal 4 MHz oscillator.
This chip is in an 8 pin DIP package, but two pins are not connected. The PCB-07 can be used to program this chip in a programmer that supports the 10F chips, but only the 12F pinout.
DIP-ZIF28 is a ZIF socket that could be used with this chip.

When this standard chip is temporarily not available I might provide you an LF chip (extended opertaing voltage range) or an E version (extended temperature range) instead. Such chips are fully (upwards) compatible replacements for the plain F chips.
