This buys you the exclusive use of a range of 10 USB Products IDs (PIDs) within the VOTI Vendor ID (VID).When you want your USB product to cooperate with (potentially all) other USB products, you need a unique PID/VID combination for your product. Note: not one for each individual item you sell, just one for the product. This PID/VID is used by the PC to match your USB device to the corresponding PC software.
Note that the PID/VID combinations you get are (as far as usb.org is concerned) still allocated to VOTI (they register only VIDs), but this does not mean that VOTI must be mentioned anywhere in your software or documentation, so your customer need not be aware of this.
Note that buying a PID range does not mean that you have an official USB product and can use the USB logo. If you want that you will have to contact usb.org, and you are in for a costly and time-consuming process.
