This the latest generation FTDI USB-to-serial/parallel interface chip. The manufacturers website provides detailed information about the use of this chip, including free drivers that create virtual serial ports on windows PCs. Note: this chip is in a LQPF48 package, not a DIP!
The PCB-06 can be used to use this chip in a DIP socket, breadboard, etc.
